Plan a cruise to Alaska sooner rather than later

Do you have dreams of going to Alaska?

Well, make those dreams come true and jump aboard one

of Alaska's most popular cruise lines.

You won't regret it.

It’s a perfect vacation to share with extended family and multiple generations.

When my daughter was 12 and my sons were 15 & 17, we decided on a family cruise to Alaska. My parents (now deceased) joined us as did some other family members. It’s 18 years later (OMG – I can’t believe how time flies!) and it’s still one of my most memorable trips.

From the smallest to the largest – there are many cruise lines to choose from. Choose to go on a luxury or expedition-style cruise or maybe something a little more unique. Sailing in Alaska extends from the middle of May to mid-September.

Here are some significant reasons you should cruise to The Last Frontier sooner rather than later.

Alaska is desirable to people of all ages and tends to be high up on many bucket lists. Many families come here each year to enjoy the beauty of the great state and the broad scope of activities and events.

The wildlife is absolutely out of this world. When traveling to Alaska by cruise ship, don't be surprised to spot bear hunting for fish, whales, eagles, and several other beautiful creatures.

How about a helicopter ride to get into the mountains, land on a glacier and take a walk. It’s like walking on the moon! This could be one thrilling adventure.

Dare to go dog sledding?

The best part of it is getting to hang with sweet huskies all day. Or take a tour (like we did) to cuddle some puppies on a visit to the homestead where the huskies are bred and trained for the iditarod.

Take an Alaska railroad tour as an add-on before or after your cruise, to witness an exceptional view into Alaska's backcountry "soul." Alaska railroad vacation packages and train tours bring visitors to places that can only be accessible by train, through awe-inspiring landscapes and to some of the state's most colorful communities.

Sadly, Alaska won't be as charming as it is now, forever. Right now, you can see the nation in all of its iconic glory.

From lush forests to enormous glaciers, there is so much to admire before global warming takes it all away.

Alaska truly is one of the most magical places on Earth, and it's right here in the United States.

If you, like almost everyone else, have "visit Alaska" on your bucket list, what are you waiting for?
